Dylan Thomas Exhibition

Atlas AV are fortunate enough to work on some of the most high profile projects the world over so we were delighted to successfully deliver an AV exhibition for one of our local hero’s. The new Dylan Thomas Exhibition opened on the 27th October. The refurbishment completed by The Hub Limited completely refurbished and expanded the exhibition giving a greater insight into one of Swansea’s leading cultural figures.

A pleasure to provide the equipment that allows visitors to hear some of the world’s most well-known voices reading lines from famous Dylan Thomas works; the voices of Prince Charles and Richard Burton are among those to feature in content provided by Centrescreen. Atlas AV provided all of the AV hardware including new interactive touch-screen displays, projection and sound scapes that focus on Dylan’s technique. We can now explore the notebooks he wrote in Swansea between the ages of 15 and 19, and cast a light on the circumstances surrounding the events in New York City in 1953.

Multiple techniques and video displays are utilised to celebrate the 100th anniversary of this remarkable characters birth.

The redevelopment of the exhibition is potentially one of the biggest legacy projects to have emerged in this centenary year of my grandfather’s birth – it’s extremely important to me that Swansea Council safeguards this legacy and makes the most of this generous investment from the HLF. I’m expecting this project to really engage the local community, as well as the wider Dylan Thomas community, through their new education and outreach programme and really play a central role in ensuring that future generations are inspired by my grandfather’s literary successes.
— Hannah Ellis, Dylan’s grand-daughter.
