Dylan Thomas Exhibition

Atlas AV are fortunate enough to work on some of the most high profile projects the world over so we were delighted to successfully deliver an AV exhibition for one of our local hero’s. The new Dylan Thomas Exhibition opened on the 27th October. The refurbishment completed by The Hub Limited completely refurbished and expanded the exhibition giving a greater insight into one of Swansea’s leading cultural figures.

A pleasure to provide the equipment that allows visitors to hear some of the world’s most well-known voices reading lines from famous Dylan Thomas works; the voices of Prince Charles and Richard Burton are among those to feature in content provided by Centrescreen. Atlas AV provided all of the AV hardware including new interactive touch-screen displays, projection and sound scapes that focus on Dylan’s technique. We can now explore the notebooks he wrote in Swansea between the ages of 15 and 19, and cast a light on the circumstances surrounding the events in New York City in 1953.

Multiple techniques and video displays are utilised to celebrate the 100th anniversary of this remarkable characters birth.

The redevelopment of the exhibition is potentially one of the biggest legacy projects to have emerged in this centenary year of my grandfather’s birth – it’s extremely important to me that Swansea Council safeguards this legacy and makes the most of this generous investment from the HLF. I’m expecting this project to really engage the local community, as well as the wider Dylan Thomas community, through their new education and outreach programme and really play a central role in ensuring that future generations are inspired by my grandfather’s literary successes.
— Hannah Ellis, Dylan’s grand-daughter.

UNESCO World Heritage Blaenavon Ironworks

The Blaenavon World Heritage Centre is proud to announce the opening of the world’s first “Virtual Furnace”. Watch our customer explain in their own words the importance and success of this truly unique AV experience.

The Area of the original furnace is dramatically brought to life with the sounds and drama of the Iron making process demonstrated in no uncertain terms. A Furness melts the raw materials and when the workers have got it to the right temperature watch the “Iron flow” beneath your very feet!

A pleasure working with Bright 3D on this project and great to hear this unique AV exhibit has significantly increased visitor numbers and clearly interpret the “Hell on Earth” those workers experienced.

Battle of Britain

The Bentley Priory Museum, located in the former headquarters of Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain of 1940, was formally opened by TRH The Prince of Wales, Patron, The Bentley Priory Battle of Britain Trust, and The Duchess of Cornwall at a ceremony on the afternoon of 12th September 2013.

Altas AV worked with the designers and the client to create a unique Audio Visual Experience that offers visitors an intuitive insight into the building’s heritage and its wartime operations using cleverly integrated leading edge technology.

The restoration incorporates bespoke interactive touch screen kiosks built into the grand interior and retrofitted learning resources including rotator dial telephones, handsets and monitors. The newly recreated ‘Filter Room’, an exact replica of the wartime operations room, is brought to the present day with carefully positioned audio visual technology optimising the visitors’ experience.

The Dowding Room

The beautifully produced show highlights the trials, tribulations and triumphs of 1st Baron Dowding and his reign as the commander of RAF Fighter Command. The pre-show title brief is projected onto a semi transparent gauze that opens out to a multi projection film. The full, high resolution image wraps itself around the inner walls and ceiling in Dowding’s original office to produce a one-off visual show experience.

The nostalgic presence of Dowding is brilliantly enhanced by show control technology allowing original features of the office to ‘come alive’ with scene control of the house lights and an automatic door. Shadows and reflections created using projection masking techniques together with footstep effects transmitted from wireless surround sound speakers, hauntingly animates the vital work of the secret Dowding System during the Battle of Britain.

With the gauze still featuring subtle visuals including maps and subtitles, the show becomes fully immersive with three dimensional textures.

Thank you for all your assistance in bringing the project to fruition, especially through the drip-feed procurement process.
It seems to me that no person in the audio-visual industry ever reaches the top of their profession until they have been locked in a tight space pressing buttons for royalty on the opposite side of the wall. Congratulations on delivering both the royal presentation and those to the public.
For my own part it was a pleasure to work with you and be part of the production process. With best wishes for the future
— Neal Potter Design Associates
