Museum of Oxford – ‘Explore Oxford’ Galleries.

GuideA rotate. World's first 360 rotating kiosk at Museum of Oxford

With ‘Explore Oxford’ the only museum exhibition in Oxford that chronicles both the place and it’s people, it’s curators needed to be sure that the story telling could live up to the city’s rich and diverse heritage.

Located in new galleries within the Town Hall, ‘Explore Oxford’ is the centre piece of this world-class museum where visitors delight at exhibits, in particular a series of simulated journeys around the city’s past and present.

These virtual high-speed bike and car trips have been made possible by Atlas AV’s rotating kiosks. Called GuidA Rotates, each provides a unique visitor experience, enhancing interactivity by inviting people of all ages to move the viewing screens to reveal different content.

The rotation is made possible through HDMI technology that allows the visitor to see instantaneously what Oxford has to offer on multiple screens. There are ten panoramas in total as well as a number of videos, also produced by Atlas AV, that take visitors on fascinating journeys around a city renowned for it’s history and architectural splendour.

One of the most popular rides is by bike, taking in city highlights and the more unusual sights including BMW’s MINI car plant. En route, the visitor meets a wealth of historical Oxford characters from a Roman Potter to a 16th Century Mayor each telling their story of the city.

GuidA rotate allows the visitor to see instantaneously what Oxford has to offer on multiple screens.
